Race for Life
The 2009 Race for Life is on 11th and 12th July; the Swindon events are, as usual, being hosted at Lydiard Park.
Event details can be found here

Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s flagship event, which brings together thousands of women each year to walk, jog, or run 5k and raise money to beat cancer.

To date, four million women have raised over £240 million for Cancer Research UK.

The Striders will be providing marshalls for the event on both days. The committee will be asking for volunteers in the coming months. Please talk to a committee member if you would like to get involved.

Ridgeway Relays 2009

This year the Ridgeway Relays will be held on 21st June. We will be entering one team again, and will be taking names for that team from the end of May.
This event is open to every member to take part.

Grand Prix 2009
Details of the 2009 Swindon Striders Handicapped Grand Prix have been added here.

Entry forms can be obtained from commitee members on club nights or by e-mailing website@swindonstriders.org

Swindon 10K
Lots of Striders braved the weather and ran the new 10K from the Wroughton Aerodrome.

The course was nice and flat, and the worst of the rain held off.

A Busy Day for the Striders
Sunday 12th October was a busy day for the Striders as members competed in the Swindon Half Marathon, Swindon Multi-Terrain 5 Mile, and the Commando Challenge!
There were some great performances on the day, despite the un-seasonably warm weather!

A big thank you to Dave, Ray, and Wendy for the Commando Challenge Pictures.

Barbury Castle Track'n'Trail 5

There was a good turn out by the Striders at this popular, but tough, local race.

It was hot, it was sticky, and the hills were steep.....but everyone put in good performances.
Rumour has it that a few Striders came away with prizes, more details to follow.

Ridgeway Challenge
86 miles and still smiling!

Ridgeway Challenge - Neil at Finish

Huge Congratulations to Neil Pringle who completed the 86 mile Ridgeway Challenge just before lunch on Sunday 26th August in an impressive time of 23 hours and 21 minutes!

It was an inspirational run and, as always, Neil did it with a smile on his face!

Finishing Time

A few more photos of Neil completing this event can be found here.

Not got a GPS???

Then try out this nifty little utility on the London Marathon website:
http://www.realbuzz.com/flmroutes/map.html
(now requires (free) registration)
It allows you to plot the routes you run and it'll give you a fairly good  idea of the distance travelled......it's probably slightly more accurate than Andy Smith's assurances that it's "about six"!!!

Just done a PB?

Have you checked our Club Records page here?
Do you now hold a Striders
age-group record?
If so, please let us know at the usual e-mail address: website@swindonstriders.org

Need a Running Log?
Lee Armitage, the partner of one of our runners, has developed a rather nice (Microsoft Excel format) running log and very kindly agreed to let us all give it a "test run"!

You can find a link to it here
Please feel free to give it a try and send us any feedback so we can forward it on to Lee.

Thanks Lee!
